JOB ACTION
The Union has decided to temporarily remove GVRDEU members scheduled to work today from the South Fraser Construction Yard:
Picket lines will be established at the following work sites:
- Seymour Main No.2 Butt Strap Repair Project – 100 Block Riverside Dr. North Vancouver
- BV5 Decommission Project – Harbour Rd &. Riverside Dr. North Vancouver
- Annacis Water Main No.5 North – New Westminster Section – 500 Block 13th St. New Westminster
This escalated job action is being initiated to motivate Metro Vancouver Management to return to the bargaining table prepared to make meaningful progress on the critical issues members have raised, including but not limited to:
- meaningful improvements to worker health and safety;
- required wage adjustments to address recruitment and retention challenges in sought-after classifications; and
- the increasing contracting out of GVRDEU bargaining unit work.
Please be advised that information on future job action will be communicated through bulletins, and specifics about the Essential Services Global Order are available through your Shop Steward.
We strongly advise Members not to undertake any job action that is not sanctioned by the Union Executive.
