Attention: GVRDEU Members:
It was truly rewarding for the Bargaining Committee to see so many members attend last night’s special meeting to discuss the current state of bargaining. Your strong turnout, thoughtful participation, and unwavering solidarity sent a clear message that our membership remains united and committed to achieving a fair collective agreement. The Bargaining Committee sincerely appreciates the confidence and trust you have placed in us. Your support strengthens our resolve as we continue to advocate on behalf of every member.
This morning, the Bargaining Committee attended the Labour Relations Board at 9:00 a.m. and, at 10:50 a.m., responded to the Employer’s latest counter-proposal in good faith. At 12:15 p.m., the Employer advised that it had not received a new bargaining mandate and that its July 14 proposal remained unchanged. The Employer also confirmed that it was unwilling to include any language addressing worker safety or contracting out in the Memorandum of Agreement.
Through the mediator, the Union advised the Employer that it remained committed to reaching an agreement and was seeking meaningful improvements to the Employer’s proposal. Later that afternoon, the Employer presented what it described as a counterproposal. However, the document was identical to the proposal previously provided electronically on July 16, and again yesterday through the appointed mediator. It contained no changes other than a new cover page reflecting today’s date.
The Bargaining Committee remains ready to return to the bargaining table at any time. When the Employer is prepared to engage in meaningful discussions and work toward resolving the outstanding issues that matter to our members, we will respond in good faith.
