The Union has made the decision to temporarily removemembers from the following locations:
- Metro Vancouver Housing Corporation
- Head Office at Metrotower III
- Lulu Island Wastewater Treatment Plant
- LWS Maintenance Services at Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant
- WS & LWS Maintenance Services at Lake City Operations Centre
Members continue to be withdrawn from the following locations:
- South Fraser Construction Yard
- Annacis Liquid Waste Services Civil Maintenance Yard
- Water Services Engineering & Construction Job Classifications
- Construction Worker I/II
- Tradesperson II – Carpenter
- Carpenter Apprentice
- Equipment Operator II/III
This escalated job action is being initiated to motivate Metro Vancouver’s Management to come to the scheduled mediated bargaining session this Saturday July 11, with an intent to negotiate a new contract after working under an expired contract for over 18 months.
Metro Vancouver has publicly stated that they remain committed to reach a fair and reasonable agreement. To do so, they must show a genuine determination in responding to the serious concerns raised by members for improvement of health and safety provisions, reducing contracting out of union members’ work, and improving the retention and recruitment of skilled workers.
Please be advised that information on future job action will be communicated through bulletins, and specifics about the Essential Services Global Order are available through your Shop Steward.
We strongly advise Members not to undertake any job action that is not sanctioned by the Union Executive.
