Attention: GVRDEU Members

We are writing to advise members of a change to the purpose of the scheduled in-person Special Meeting for GVRDEU members only, to be held:

In light of recent developments that Metro Vancouver’s Board of Directors has begun the process of relieving its appointed CAO of his duties, as well as the broader discussions regarding reform of the Regional District. The Union’s Executive Board has decided to cancel the planned process of the meeting related to holding a vote on seeking a mandate from the membership.

Given the evolving circumstances, it would not be prudent to proceed in a manner that would compromise the interests of the Union and its membership. This decision has been made to ensure the Union remains in the strongest possible position and will be explained at the beginning of the meeting.

The meeting will proceed as scheduled and remains an important opportunity for members to receive a comprehensive presentation of:

• The Employer’s proposal presented at mediation.
• The Union’s proposal, reflecting the membership’s key outstanding priorities.
• An update from the Union’s Bargaining Committee on the bargaining process to date, the developments at Metro Vancouver over the past week, and the Union’s next strategic steps.
• With the remaining time available, there will be an opportunity for members to ask questions to gain a clear understanding of the current state of negotiations.

Rest assured, your Union is committed to reaching a new contract with integrity and in good faith, that addresses your need and that is a fair deal for its members.
