Attention: GVRDEU Members
After today’s bargaining session concluded without the level of progress needed to move us closer to a tentative agreement, the Bargaining Committee is calling for a strike vote to be held. This will authorize the Union to take job action if required, in support of achieving a fair and equitable collective agreement.
Although we have met with the Employer over thirteen times, we have not advanced far enough towards an agreement that meets the needs and priorities of our members. Key issues remain unresolved and your bargaining committee requires a strong mandate to apply the pressure needed to secure a fair settlement. A solid strike mandate prevents a strike by showing our unity and strengthening our bargaining position.
This strike vote will take place on the following date and location:
- Friday, March 13th, 2026
- 6:00 am to 8:00 pm
- GVRDEU Union Hall
- #27-8980 Fraserwood Court, Burnaby, B.C.
A strong turnout and unified vote will demonstrate our collective resolve and reinforces our bargaining position. A strike vote does not mean a general strike will occur, but it will allow the Union to initiate formal job action if required.
Members of the Bargaining Committee will be available at the Union Hall through the course of the day to discuss the issues at hand and answer any questions.
After the polling closes, ballots will be counted that evening, and the results will be made available to the membership without delay.
In solidarity,
Your GVRDEU Bargaining Committee
