Collective Bargaining Update #2

Attention:  GVRDEU Members

We want to share an update on where bargaining currently stands and what lies ahead.

We have had ten bargaining sessions with the Employer, Metro Vancouver, but have not made any meaningful progress towards a new agreement. At this point, the Employer has declined proposed language improvements that members have identified as being needed in the Collective Agreement.

We have been clear that further bargaining will only be productive if the Employer demonstrates a genuine willingness to revisit their position on the key issues presented by your Bargaining Committee. Without that commitment from the Employer, further discussions are unlikely to bring us closer to a deal acceptable to our membership.

We remain committed to achieving an agreement that meets the needs of our members. At this point, we have two additional bargaining dates scheduled in February.  If meaningful progress cannot be achieved, we will pursue every available avenue to secure a satisfactory outcome for our members.

We’ll continue to provide updates on the status of negotiations. Updates are also provided at the Union’s regular monthly meetings.

In solidarity,

GVRDEU Bargaining Committee
